ILA’s Training Institute offers on- and off-site
training for your staff at reasonable rates. Certified instructors
deliver all training programs, and our flexible scheduling accommodates
your agency’s needs.
The Training Institute designs and delivers two
types of programs:
- certificate programs mandated for your professional staff
- customized programs to meet your agency’s specific requirements

ILA’s Training Institute offers the
following certificate training programs:
American Red Cross Certified Adult CPR
This course teaches adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills.
The successful trainee receives a one-year certification from the
American Red Cross.
American Red Cross Certified Infant CPR
This course teaches child cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills.
The successful trainee receives a one-year certification from the
American Red Cross.
American Red Cross Certified First Aid
This course teaches basic first aid and safety for adults. The trainee
will be prepared to care for adults who sustain injuries until medical
professionals arrive. The successful trainee will receive an American
Red Cross certificate in first aid valid for three years.
SCIP-R Certification
This program includes restrictive techniques and re-certification
training. All SCIP-R instructors are Certified Instructor Trainers.
This training teaches how to safely deal with aggressive consumer
behavior, how to prevent injury to themselves and the consumer while
implementing interventions, and appropriate nonphysical interventions
to assist in calming consumers during outbursts. This training requires
an annual re-certification.
Approved Medication Administration Procedures
This training certifies trainees to administer medication to consumers
in OMRDD-regulated facilities. It includes an in-depth review of
common medication, common abbreviations of medication, side effects,
responsibilities of the certified staff person, medication measurements,
and techniques for evaluating vital signs. For the certification
to be valid, trainees who complete this course must receive three
medication pourings supervised by a registered nurse at their facilities.
NTSI-Certified Defensive Driving
This is a six-hour course that can reduce agency and personal auto
insurance. This training teaches safe driving techniques and assesses
the trainees’ driving habits and attitudes. The trainee reviews
New York State driving laws.
