The Independent Living Association, Inc.,
widely known by its acronym ILA, was incorporated
for the purpose of providing exemplary residential care for adults
who are Intellectually Challenged and may also have a developmentally
disability. Opening its first program in 1985, ILA
created residential opportunities for persons whose only other option
of long-term care was placement in a large institution. As a result
of a hard working and dedicated staff, and with the support of the
New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities,
persons admitted to ILA homes flourished in the
community. Now, in the new millennium ILA provides
residential services to close to 200 consumers. In addition, ILA
also provides Service Coordination to over 90 people.
Our Mission
We offer quality care to ensure that individuals live in the safest
environment possible and pursue community living at the highest
attainable level. We believe that all people realize their potential
in community based settings and by receiving continuous, individualized
and integrated services from a professional, dedicated and caring
staff.
